Who's behind it
No shortcuts. Just the work.
Rob Firmin grew up in Essex and joined the British Army with no formal qualifications. He wasn't looking for a career plan. He was looking for purpose and somewhere to belong. He found both in the infantry, where he served for 12 years.
Leaving in 2012 was the hard part. Like a lot of people coming out of the forces, Rob struggled to find stable work for several years. The structure, the standards and the team around him were gone overnight. What stayed was the mindset: turn up, take responsibility, and keep going when it gets difficult.
In 2019 he started building again, from scratch, in Swindon. That work became the Guardians Group, including Bespoke Guardians, a specialist service supporting some of the UK's most vulnerable young people. Many of its team are ex-forces.
The recognition followed the work, not the other way round. Rob was named Male Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Business Awards in 2025, and again in 2026. Bespoke Guardians was named Business of the Year in 2026. He is also co-owner of the Swindon Wildcats ice hockey team, which Warrior Culture is proud to sponsor.
